Stage6 is closing down :-(

The most popular site to watch and download DIVx videos is closing down on Feb-28th. Really a sad news for the Stage6 users. The reason being “That the continued operation of Stage6 is a very expensive enterprise that requires an enormous amount of attention and resources that they are not in a position to continue to provide”.

The bad part is that I came to know abt this site only a couple of weeks back !!

I hope, i will find a similar site soon…

My new Gadget: ACER 4520

Bought a new lappy last week, the ACer 4520. Gone thro’ lot of reviews and found this one out to be a VFM (value for money) lappy.

Bought price: 29500 /- with bootable Linux and I had my own WinXP installed.

Looks very neat, with white internals (have to be bit extra careful),Very good  Display, Cool integrated webcam and super sound quality. Will come out with more pros and cons soon.

Samsung C160 - BSNL GPRS settings

Bought a Samsung C160 a week back here in Chennai Subiksha mobile for 2132 /- the lowest price in chennai and tot a givign a small review and BSNL GPRS settings (south) for the mobile.

I lost my Motorola C168 and was looking for a mobile with similar features.. I mean, a low end with GPRS and FM, so Samsung C160 was the obvious choice.

Review:

FM : Good, it has a speaker as well, so just connect the headset and put the FM in speaker mode and you get a fair music player

GPRS : So far working fine, I tried with the BSNL Gprs.

RingTones and Wallpapers - Only 2/3 of each were available and you will badly require some more. Also not so good inbuilt ringtones and wallpapers.

Sound quality : Good

Battery : Fair (lasted for 2 days with lotz of FM usage)

BSNL GPRS Settings for Samsung C160 (South):

Go to Menu->FunBox->WWW services->Proxy Settings

Edit any of the proxies u find der..

I replaced the IDEAs proxy setting with the BSNL one.

Profile name : bsnlgprs

Home url : http://localhost/home.wml

Bearer: Gprs only

Proxy use : Enable

Select GPRS Setting and give following details,

IP Address: 10.31.54.2

IP port: 9401

APN: wapsouth.cellone.in

LoginId : ppp

Password: ppp123

After making all these changes come back to WWW Serivecs ->Current proxy, select bsnlgprs.

Come to main display and press the “i” button in the keypad which takes directly to the bsnl gprs welcome page, and if id doesn’t , there should be some problem with the settings made, but the details given above works well.

They can be edited, shared, and published using the familiar Google Docs interface, with several collaborators working on a slide deck simultaneously, in real time. When it’s time to present, participants can simply click a link to follow along as the presenter takes the audience through the slideshow.

Wait, it gets better: The audience can use Google Talk to chat during the presentation.
