2011 in review
January 1, 2012 at 4:42 pm | Posted in Blogroll, Diary | Leave a commentBelow is the report for 2011 and sad that I penned just 5 topics in 2011 and still some traffic coming to my blog in search of lyrics of my favorite songs and materials on Telecom and SCDL assignments. This year too it was the same reason I guess, like Facebook and this year G+ added to the list of spoilers.
Spoilers apart, I definitely hope that this year gonna be a much better one for my blog, and am going to pen about common issues and my views on it. Be it in politics/technology/global economy.
Not to forgot, this page is gonna carry the pictures I click and feel good about it which is the effect of being Nikoned. The first article is gonna be on BSNL.. which will be posted shortly.
The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
The concert hall at the Syndey Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 52,000 times in 2011. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 19 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

BBye 2011 !! Welcome 2012 !!
December 31, 2011 at 11:11 pm | Posted in Blogroll, Diary | Leave a commentIt has really been a fantastic year except for the “Thane” impact in Pondicherry.
Though we are safe here in Chennai, it was a big hardship for my parents there in my native. I heard my father saying that he hadn’t seen such a devastating storm in Pondicherry in his life time that is like in last 4 decades. After some 48 hrs of difficulty, the power is now restored and normalcy is slowly coming back.
Hope 2012 brings in much more happiness and more success to everyone and letz hope that this kind of disaster never repeats.
Wishing You all a Very happy 2012 !!

Nikoned… the new D3100 !!!
October 2, 2011 at 3:21 pm | Posted in Blogroll, Diary, Fun | 2 CommentsBought a Nikon D3100 to gift my wife on her b’day. It was a perfect gift as she is also a big photography enthu. It was a really long deliberation between Canon 1100D and Nikon D3100. But it was a split second decision in the Camera Store where I got Nikoned.
First few pics shot with auto/preset modes itself shows the difference between the Point & Shoot and DSLRs. Will continue to experiment with it and may put some experimental shots in this page later..

We are the champions!!!
April 7, 2011 at 7:14 pm | Posted in Blogroll, India-News | Leave a commentIt was really a fantastic feeling watching the team from your country lifting the trophy. I would rather say it as on top of 14 nations and not as, say, top of the world.

Time to get your finger inked!!
April 7, 2011 at 4:24 pm | Posted in Blogroll, Diary | Leave a commentThe people who can’t participate in protests(fast-unto-death) like the one happening now headed by Anna Hazare against corruption, will get their due chance in the form of elections.
Voting is also like a silent protest which happens once is few years. Do vote and use your vote wise. Voting wise means, not wasting your valuable vote.

Twitter and Facebook have overridden my blog and updates have been directed towards them which left this blog dry without updates for quite a long time. But I do have a lot to share which will follow soon in this page..
The stats helper monkeys at WordPress.com mulled over how this blog did in 2010, and here’s a high level summary of its overall blog health:

My BSNL 3G connection..
April 12, 2010 at 12:10 am | Posted in 3G, Blogroll | Leave a commentI bought a prepaid BSNL 3G USIM few weeks back in Chennai and used it with my new mobile Sony Ericsson J-105.After reading couple of blogs, got the correct settings for the mobile and as expected there is gud 3G coverage in chennai. But first I had a hands on in browsing in my lappy connected via Bluetooth to mobile. It was in Bangalore and was possible to touch download speed of around 144 KBps.
Also I tried using it again in Chennai Airport Domestic terminal. Have consumed almost all the download capacity of 25MB which came with the starter pack.
However the recharge server is pretty poor I believe, coz I wasted almost an hr in BSNL KK nagar Customer care service centre. Couple of recharge attempts was not successful on the day I visited. Easy recharge option is only available at this moment and also only few branch’s section manager has the instruction to do that, as I understand later.
Poor BSNL has a long way to go and I feel once the private players starts 3G service by this year end, almost all new connections will be shared by the private players. May be most first time users got the BSNL connection only to experience 3G in India like me
Am yet to recharge my account…

The 3G story of India -Part2
April 11, 2010 at 11:52 pm | Posted in 3G, Blogroll, Softwares and Technology | Leave a commentThe story continues and it is so far so good… 9 final bidders have applied for 3G Spectrum and around 6 of them have submitted bid for pan india license. Auction has already started on April 9th and on the the second day, it is very evident that the players are showing a greater interest.Current highest bid is around 17% more than the base price of Rs. 3500 crore.
Who will not vie for a pie which will bring them better revenue compared to the revenue from the voice and SMS services? Almost every youth in the country is having a mobile and showing interest in data services. I feel that we no more fall into the “Missed Call” generation.
Out of the 9 players, Bharti Airtel, Reliance Communications, Idea Cellular, Aircel, STel, Tata Teleservices, Videocon, Etisalat DB and Vodafone Essar.. I hope Bharti and Vodafone will emerge winners for the pan india license and other players might win in few of the existing circles..
3G is expected to add value to the current Indian telecom sector and help it to fall in line with the other developing /developed countries in terms of high speed data availablity.
To be continued…
