Paris and Amsterdam!!

This time it is Amsterdam and Paris. A 5 days trip by air. Sterling, quite good one, coz they have given one free return to any destination within europe to compensate for the delay in my return flight from Paris ;-). But Iam not lucky enough to use it as I will be moving back to chennai in a couple of weeks.

It was a new experience sleeping in the Copenhagen airport, like how we sleep in the railway stations. Some travelers over there followed us. Caught the morning flight and reached Amsterdam. Luckily, the Hostel I booked was very near to the central and also in the heart of the Window street, were the most of the sins happens in the city. After visiting few places, we started exploring what actually window street is after dark.

Window street or the red-light area,the terms go hand in hand has lotz of houses with window with screen and girls behind that in all narrow streets. And lotz of drug peddlers here and there giving u signals abt the stuff they have. The entire place smelled different, not even the smell of cigaret but drugs. If you really want to try some, itz the place for you. Have to be very careful with what u carry.

After going around some market area the next morning in Amsterdam we caught the train to Rotterdam. Just coming out of the central we felt the difference. Rotterdam, the city in the making. Very huge new structures, welcomes you, while in amsterdam it was full of dutch architecture. Rotterdam was really beautiful with lotz of green and ample of new buildings which accommodates almost all majors in finance and retails. Just walked around the city till our legs started trembling.

From Rotterdam we took eurolines bus to Paris and reached the next day morning. We stayed in my frend’s (karuna, my school mate who got settled down in paris long back) place. Just coming out of the station “Paris Nord” I felt like roaming in my own place pondicherry. The roads, the ppl, the building all resembled my place. After all, pondicherry was once a French colony. No wonder y I felt like at home.

We covered all major attractions, not to forget, the Eiffel tower, Verssailes,levour palace, the wax museum, the la defense. I didn’t feel like being in an european city when in paris, coz where ever u go, mostly u can see the migrants, be it from India, Srilanka, Arabs etc., and hardly the French.

Nyways, we wound up the trip and supposed to catch the flight at 8.15, but it got delayed for more than 3 hrs and thatz y the excuse gift return ticket I talked abt ealier.

I am Staying Alive..

Stockholm and Malmo!!!

Its been a while since I posted something here. After that Gotenburg visit, again we went for a weekend trip to Stockholm last month and a couple of weeks later, went for a 2 days trip to Malmo and Copenhagen(Tivoli).

Stockholm the capital city was at its own best, be it the architecture and the old town (Gamla Stan), the city is beautiful and the night life was at its best. Saw some beautiful young girls only after mid-night. Every discothe and pub were fully packed and the 1 we tried didn’t have some place to stand, then where to dance. But is was very lively at mid-night. Dunno where ppl were hiding the all day long. Swiftly we came back to room to have a good sleep at least.

About Malmo, we did a mistake by visiting the place on a public holiday, that too on May-1, the streets were deserted and hardly we saw some shops with their doors open. But again Malmo too was a beautiful place and have few spots worth visiting, and the one not to forgot the Turning Torso, an amazing 55 storied  building with a twisting architecture,tallest in sweden and . And the beach was so gud, and I felt like being to my own place (pondicherry beach) when I spent a short time there in the rocks in the beach side.

From Malmo, we went to Copenhagen, to visit, Tivoli, the theme park. Though its not so big, It had a few good rides. Had my first experience in the Roller coaster there.

It was really some good time we spent in those different cities and are looking out for more actions.

2 days in Gothenburg

This time around, it was Gothenburg, on April 5th and 6th we went for a trip to Gothenburg and the mode of travel was by Car. Gothenburg was around 380Kms from Karlskrona, the place where I live in. Renting the car saves lotz of bucks and as we had two pros dani and hari, it was a fun drive all the way, even I tried my hand in VOLVO S40.

About the city, It is the second biggest city in Sweden which is full of activities. One of the best city in sweden for nightlife (though we enjoyed nothing ) and the best place for shopping in sweden (again, didn’t buy anything) with number of malls and shopping areas.

Also it hosts the largest theme park in Northern Europe, Liseberg, which will be open from April end, came to know only after we planned for the trip. And having group of isles, the archipelago.
We missed both the Liseberg and the visit to the islands which we have planned to do in summer again.

Other places of interest is the Haga town, the canal tour and not to mention the Maritiman,the naval museum

The place not to be missed in Sweden.

How to make Carrot Halwa?

Don’t ask me this question, I searched for the same in google and tried my part based on the search results.
Being got displaced from home, am trying some recipes for my survival and this is one of them

Requirements: (am a Software pro)

Carrot - 3/4 kg
Milk - 1 cup
Sugar - 1/2 cup
Ghee/butter - 3/4 table spoons
Cardamom (not a must)
Cashews - 7/8

These measures are not a must, u can prepare with how much ever ingredients u have..

Functioanlity:

Take the finely grated carrot,put it in the vessel and fry it with little ghee till it becomes 1/3 of the amount u have taken initially and fry till u feel that carrot has lost most of its green smell/taste.Now add 1/2 cup of sugar and fry it in mild heat and a couple of minutes later add a cup of milk and keep on stirring. Once the mix becomes like a soft ball, u can stop stirring if u don’t want to waste the mix..

Add the cardamom for itz special smell and Cashews for look.. I added only Cashews.

Result:

Hold on, Itz over, ask you friend to taste that and after the observation time, if you want to take risk, continue doing so..

A Weekend in Berlin

Couple of weeks back, went for a weekend trip to Berlin from Karlskrona. Travelled by train (Karlskrona to copenhagen) and then by bus (Copenhagen to berlin) Eurolines.
Had some gud time on the way in Copenhagen which included a canal tour. A weekend can be spent in copenhagen and we are planning for that too

Saturday morning we reached Berlin and booked accommodation in Wombat’s hostel in Rosa Luxumberg Station. Taking a group ticket is much cheaper than buying individual tickets. Ticket for a group of 5 for a day costs 15.40 Euro for Zone-A&B and 15.60Euro for Zone-A,B&C. Major attractions and shopping areas are falling under Zone A&B.

On saturday we went for a free walking tour which covers lotz of historic places in about 4 hrs like Brandenburg gate, Berlin wall, Gendarmenmarkt, Checkpoint Charlie and more. And we spent the day in walking tour and doing some window shopping in Alexanderplatz which has Saturn and Media market. You will find whatever electronics items you know in these shops where the prices are comparatively cheaper to other parts of Europe as far as I have seen.

The second day, we visited Potsdam,the place not to be missed in the Berlin trip. St Pauls and peter church and also some palaces like San souci are there.

Also Berlin has lotz of museums and other historic places to visit.

Overall, Berlin is one of the important places not to be missed in Europe having very interesting history.

More than the place we enjoyed a lot on the way in bus and train, thanks to the mokkais from Dani and Hari.

Muthal Pani…

Today it snowed here in karlskrona, and as I had already written a few muthals, gonna add Muthal Pani to the list,

Though it just snowed for a couple of hrs, it left something to feel happy about…

Stage6 is closing down :-(

The most popular site to watch and download DIVx videos is closing down on Feb-28th. Really a sad news for the Stage6 users. The reason being “That the continued operation of Stage6 is a very expensive enterprise that requires an enormous amount of attention and resources that they are not in a position to continue to provide”.

The bad part is that I came to know abt this site only a couple of weeks back !!

I hope, i will find a similar site soon…
